Walkable Sculpture

This is a summary of my intentions for the walkable sculpture and further inspirations and discussions on shapes...

What should the walkable sculpture look like? What is the role of the visitor alias protagonist? What is living?

"Call to Action" (Franz Erhard Walther):

The protagonist should be triggered to explore the sculpture, the built room, the space, the material. He should be curious, explorative and being surprised.

Atmosphere:

from outside: mysterious, embracing something, voluminous (colour, shape), like a cocoon, like a hiding place, you don't know whether it is something good or bad

from inside: mysterious, intimate, protecting, the light will be dimmed through the wool and the shape

The living:

Inside the shape, "life" can be found: I imagine the electronic parts as the stamen (Staubblatt) and stigma (Narbe) of a flower, little antennas coming up from the floor and down from the ceiling like stalagmites and stalactites.

One part of them is provided with tactile sensors, and the other part is provided with actuators, in this case textile loudspeakers. If you touch the sensor stamen, one loudspeaker is triggered.

This "magical"g sound activation can be perceived as something living. At first it is only one part, but if several parts are triggered the whole sculpture maybe perceived as living.

In the following I present several pictures of inspiration:

The above picture are from a "spulen blog" (http://spulen.blogspot.ch/) which dicusses various shapes and modes of operation of coils. I found this blog while doing research on speakers and their construction only when I noticed that the shapes I was already playing with in my head and in my former models are all very similar to these technical physical drawings.

the coil- the field of electronic waves- the roundness- the conus

The coil represents very well a movment (soundwaves, energy, transformation process, a living organism...), the field represents the field of exploration, the space of experience, the room of perception

I have to admit, that I don't understand in detail what these physical drawings want to tell, but I actually like to "translate" it somehow into poetry.... Every pictures describes a little kosmos itself.

These pictures also reminded me of the drawing of the perichorese/ Herumbewegung (click here for link) after Rössler.
